Quintessa is the Quintessential wine estate. Quintessa the wine is a blend of the best vineyard lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc all grown on the estate's 170 acres of vineyards in the heart of Rutherford. The winery's stone facade is combined with natural landscaping of native plants and oak trees to create a subtle presence amidst the diverse terrain. The natural design facilitates a gentle, gravity flow system from the moment the grapes arrive at the winery. Once the wine is in barrel, it will age in caves that have been dug into the hillside behind the winery. Visits to Quintessa include a tour of the Quintessa Vineyard, a tour of the winery and caves by way of the grape, and a sit-down tasting of several vintages paired with local artisan cheeses.
